    USC Men's Volleyball Goes 3-1 in USC Fall Tourney

    LOS ANGELES - The USC Men's Volleyball team went 3-1 in the six-team 2014 USC Fall Tournament at the Galen Center Pavilion on Saturday (Oct. 25).

    The Trojans defeated Cal State Northridge 34-32, 25-21, Cal Baptist 25-15, 25-20 (teams decided to play a third set, which USC won 15-13), and Grand Canyon 25-17, 17-25, 17-15. In a match in which USC used its third-stringers, the Trojans fell to UCLA 26-24, 25-15.

    Results of the other matches:

    Long Beach State defeated Cal Baptist 25-21, 25-22, 11-15 (third set played by coaches decision).

    Grand Canyon defeated UCLA 25-21, 25-18.

    Cal State Northridge defeated UCLA 25-23, 25-21.

    Long Beach State defeated Grand Canyon 25-18, 25-15, 25-23 (third set played by coaches decision).

    Cal State Northridge defeated Long Beach State 18-25, 25-22, 15-8.

    UCLA defeated Long Beach State 23-25, 25-12, 15-12.

    Cal Baptist defeated Grand Canyon 23-25, 30-28, 25-22.

    In the Cal State Northridge vs. Cal Baptist match, the teams split sets and elected not to play the third set, resulting in 25-23 Cal State Northridge and 29-27 Cal Baptist.

    The Trojans continue their pre-season competition by playing at the Long Beach State Fall Tournament on Nov. 8 and at the UCLA SAC Tournament on Nov. 14 and 15 before hosting Alberta in an exhibition on Dec. 31 in the Galen Center Pavilion. Troy begins its 2015 regular season with a non-conference road match at Grand Canyon on Jan. 7 before opening MPSF play at home on Jan. 16 against Pepperdine.
