No. 7 UC Santa Barbara Men's Volleyball Defeats USC|

Evan Licht had 19 kills, 7 digs and 4 aces to lead the No. 7-ranked UC Santa Barbara men's volleyball team to a 25-23, 25-19, 21-25, 25-17 victory over USC in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Wednesday (April 10) in Santa Barbara.
UCSB improved to 15-14 overall and 11-12 in the MPSF, while the Trojans dropped to 6-17 overall and in the MPSF.
For the Gauchos, Austin Kingi had 9 kills while hitting .364 and added 11 digs and 3 aces, while Jake Staahl had 8 kills (hitting .800) and 9 blocks.
UCSB hit .259 to USC's .135. The Gauchos also had more blocks (16.0 to 6.0) and aces (10 to 4).
The first set was tied at 16-16 before UCSB scored 6 of the next 7 points to gain control. The Gauchos tallied the final 6 points of the second set while hitting .357 overall. USC used a 2-0 run in the third set to build a 13-11 lead and UCSB was unable to overtake the Trojans, who hit .407 overall. The Gauchos forged an early 7-3 edge in the fourth set and were never threatened while closing out the match.
USC concludes its 2013 season with a 7:30 p.m. MPSF match at No. 3 UCLA on Friday (April 12). It will be shown live on Pac-12 Networks.
