No. 2 Long Beach State Men's Volleyball Sweeps USC|

Taylor Crabb, Dalton Ammerman, Ian Satterfield and Colten Echave each had 9 kills to help the No. 2-ranked Long Beach State men's volleyball team sweep unranked USC, 25-17, 25-17, 25-17, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Thursday (April 4) at USC's Galen Center.
Long Beach State improved to 20-7 overall and 16-6 in the MPSF. USC dropped to 5-16 overall and in the MPSF.
The 49ers hit .384 in the match to USC's .111 and they outblocked (13.0 to 2.0), outserved (7 aces to 1) and outdug (38 digs to 28) the Trojans.
USC was led by Joey Booth, who had a match-high 10 kills while hitting .500 off the bench.
Crabb added 7 digs and 2 aces, Ammerman also had 6 blocks, Satterfield had 8 digs and 6 blocks and Taylor Gregory had 8 blocks with 2 aces.
Long Beach State got off to quick starts in each set. USC fell behind in the first set, 4-1, and the 49ers steadily pulled away while hitting .355 and getting 6.0 blocks. LBSU went on an 8-0 run in the second set to open up a 17-9 lead and was never threatened while hitting .367. The 49ers scored 3 consecutive points early in the third set to forge a 6-3 edge and USC never caught up as LBSU hit .440.
USC next concludes its 2013 home schedule when it hosts No. 10 Cal State Northridge in an MPSF contest on Saturday (April 6) at 7 p.m. in the Galen Center.
