Lucas Yoder had 19 kills while hitting .548 and Henry Cassiday added 19 digs to lead the No. 6-ranked USC men's volleyball team to a 25-20, 25-22, 25-15 sweep over Pacific in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Friday (March 7) in USC's Galen Center.
USC improved to 11-6 overall and 10-6 in the MPSF, while the Tigers dropped their seventh straight contest to fall to 2-16 overall and 1-14 in the MPSF.
Thomas Hodges had 12 kills and 6 blocks for Pacific.
USC, which had a 12-8 lead in the first set before Pacific tied it at 15-15, went on a 4-0 run to open a 19-15 lead and Troy was not threatened the rest of that set. The Trojans scored 6 unanswered points to forge a 12-6 lead in the second set, but the Tigers tied it at 15-15 again before USC later used a 3-0 run to go up 24-21 while hitting .314 in the set. Troy got off to an 8-4 lead in the third set and kept extending it while hitting .323.
USC next hosts No. 10 Stanford in an MPSF match on Sunday (March 9) in the Galen Center. The match will start at 5 p.m. and be shown live on Pac-12 Networks.
