    Matt Underwood and Taylor Sander each had a match-high 15 kills to lead the No. 2-ranked BYU men's volleyball team to a 25-22, 25-16, 25-21 sweep over No. 7 USC in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match in Provo on Friday (Feb. 28).

    BYU improved to 10-3 overall and 10-1 in the MPSF, while USC fell to 10-6 overall and 9-6 in the MPSF while snapping its season-high 4-match winning streak.

    USC was led by Lucas Yoder's 12 kills while hitting .364 and Maddison McKibbin's 11 kills (hitting .333). Micah Christenson had a match-best 10 digs.

    Underwood hit .542 for the Cougars, while Sander had 4 aces and 7 digs. Michael Hatch had 5 blocks.

    BYU hit .308 to USC's .217 and had more blocks (9.5 to 2.5) and aces (6 to 0). The Trojans outdug BYU, 32 to 19.

    USC held a 14-11 lead in the first set, but BYU tied it at 14-14 and then the Cougars used a 2-0 run to go up 22-20 and held off the Trojans. In the second set, BYU scored back-to-back points to open a 14-12 lead and then soon after went on a 7-point scoring run to widen the margin to 24-15 while hitting .519 in the set. USC trailed most of the third set before tying it at 19-19, but BYU scored the match's final 3 points to end it.

    USC now returns home to host Pacific in an MPSF match on March 7 at 7 p.m. in the Galen Center.
