LOS ANGELES -- The No. 5-ranked USC men's volleyball team--behind the hitting of Brook Billings, Eli Fairfield and Beau Rawi--swept No. 13 Stanford, 15-7, 15-7, 15-10, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Saturday (Jan. 29) in the USC North Gym.
The Trojans improved to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the MPSF, while the Cardinal fell to 2-4 overall (which also is its MPSF record).
Billings had a match-high 15 kills, Fairfield had 13 kills while hitting .478 and added 5 blocks, and Rawi had 12 kills (hitting .714) and 5 blocks.
USC outhit (.432 to .177) and outblocked (11 to 4) Stanford and also served 9 aces.
For the Cardinal, Seth Ring and Brett Youngberg each had 10 kills.
USC next travels to top-ranked UCLA on Friday (Feb. 4).
