LOS ANGELES - Junior middle blocker Beau Rawi served 8 of USC's 18 aces, both school records, to lead the No. 3-ranked Trojan men's volleyball team to a 30-19, 30-25, 27-30, 30-19 win over UC Irvine in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Tuesday (Jan. 23) in the USC North Gym. The Trojans improved to 3-0 overall and in MPSF play, while the Anteaters fell to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the MPSF.

USC has won its last 19 matches in the North Gym dating to the 1999 season.

Trojan All-American junior opposite hitter Brook Billings had a match-high 22 kills, while senior outside hitter Trevor Julian had 14 kills as he hit a match-best .611 and fellow senior outside hitter Eli Fairfield added 12 kills and a match-high 9 digs. Rawi also had a match-high 5 blocks.

Junior middle blocker Erick Helenihi led UC Irvine with 13 kills and 4 blocks.

In game 3, UCI fought back from a 24-17 deficit to force a fourth game. Game 4 was tied at 9-9 before USC took control while hitting .542.

The Trojans outhit the Anteaters overall, .313 to .156

In its next match, USC again faces UC Irvine, this time on the road this Friday (Jan. 26) at 7 p.m.
