No. 4 USC Men's Volleyball Wins In Sweep At No. 5 Long Beach State|

Lucas Yoder had a match-high 19 kills while hitting .552 and Cristian Rivera added 17 kills and 4 blocks to lead the No. 4-ranked USC men's volleyball team to a 25-19, 25-22, 33-31 sweep at No. 5 Long Beach State in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Wednesday (Jan. 22).
The Trojans, playing their first MPSF road match of 2014, improved to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the MPSF. LBSU fell to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the MPSF.
For the 49ers, Taylor Crabb and Dalton Ammerman each had 11 kills, with Ammerman adding 7 digs.
USC hit .355 overall to LBSU's .188. The Trojans had 49 digs to the 49ers' 26.
The first set was tied at 15-15 before USC scored 5 of the next 6 points to gain control. The Trojans used a 4-0 run to open an 18-14 edge in the second set and LBSU couldn't come back. USC trailed 19-15 in the final set before tying it at 19-19 and then used consecutive kills by Yoder to finish the match.
USC remains on the road for its next match on Friday (Jan. 24) when it visits Cal State Northridge at 7 p.m. in an MPSF encounter.
