Men's Volleyball Sweeps Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Penn. -- The No. 5-ranked USC men's volleyball team went back East and swept a pair of matches from No. 9 Penn State, winning 15-10, 15-7, 17-15 on Friday (Jan. 14) and then coming out victorious on Saturday (Jan. 15), 15-10, 15-10, 10-15, 15-10).

The Trojans improved to 2-1 overall, while the Nittany Lions fell to 0-2.

USC recorded 9 aces in the opening win, which came at Pennsylvania's Susquehanock High.

In the second match, played at Council Rock High, Brook Billings posted a match-high 39 kills to equal his career-high. USC outhit PSU, .450 to .420.

USC hosts Manitoba on Tuesday (Jan. 18) in an exhibition match at 7 p.m. in the North Gym on campus, then begins Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play with a pair of 7 p.m. matches this weekend in San Diego, on Friday (Jan. 21) at San Diego State and on Saturday (Jan. 22) at UC San Diego.
