    UC Irvine's Erick Helenihi led all players with 23 kills to help the Anteaters to a 3-1 victory over USC. The Anteaters lost the first game, but rebounded to win the next three and improve to 2-1 on the season. USC falls to 1-3 overall. The two teams were evenly matched throughout the match with the Trojans out-hitting (.328-.258), blocking (14-12) and digging (35-23) the Anteaters in the final statistics.

    Jimmy Pelzel tallied 16 kills, while Russ Marchewka hit a school record .923 (12-0-13) for the match. Jarett Jenson recorded 52 set assists. For the third straight match, USC was led by Brook Billings with 22 kills. Josh Daly had 12 kills and Peter Jordan added 11 digs. Phil Small totaled a match-high seven block assists. Miles McGann recorded 61 set assists for the Trojans.
