    The No. 8-ranked USC men's volleyball team placed sixth at the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate Invitational as it fell to No. 7 Cal State Northridge, 30-24, 30-24, 30-22, on Saturday (Jan. 5).

    The Matadors hit .402 and served 7 aces, while the Trojans hit just .211. Juan Figueroa had 10 kills and 9 digs for USC, while Murphy Troy also had 10 kills.

    USC (1-2) and Cal State Northridge (2-1) meet again on Wednesday (Jan. 9) in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opener at 7 p.m. in the Galen Center.
