    Long Beach State Too Much For Trojans

    LONG BEACH, Calif. -- The USC men's volleyball team ran into a powerful Long Beach State squad, and dropped a three-game Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match, 15-6, 15-9, 15-3.

    Ed Ratledge led the way for the 49ers (6-1, 1-1 MPSF), who also got 18 kills from Geoff Cryst. Chris Seiffert chipped in a match-high 57 assists.

    As for the Trojans (8-5, 1-1), Gabe Gardner led the way with 11 kills, and Szilard Kovacs had 10.

    Long Beach State outhit USC percentage-wise, .354 to .136.

    The Trojans return to the floor Tuesday when they host BYU in a MPSF match.

    The Trojans will return to action Feb. 1 when they travel to Long Beach State for a 7:30 p.m. start.
