Jan. 25, 1997 USC Sweeps IPFW, 3-0COLUMBUS, Ohio - The USC men's volleyball team took only one hour and 19 minutes to dispatch Indiana-Purdue, Fort Wayne, 3-0 (15-7, 15-6, 15-5), at the NCAA Preview Saturday night. The Trojans, behind 20 kills by Gabe Gardner (.469) and 17 by Eric Seiffert (.773) helped USC hit .409 for the match to IPFW's .272. The Dons were led by Brad Prieditis and Hector Soto with 11 kills each and Wayne Williams added 10. USC improves to 2-2 on the young season while IPFW falls to 2-2. In other NCAA Preview action, Stanford defeated Ohio State, 3-1 (15-7, 7-15, 15-12, 15-5). The Trojans will return to action Feb. 1 when they travel to Long Beach State for a 7:30 p.m. start.
