Carrillo and Hanfmann Named USC Student-Athletes of the Week|

Marlee Carrillo of the women's soccer team and Yannick Hanfmann of the men's tennis team earn USC Student-Athlete of the Week honors for October 14-22.
USC Women's Student Athlete of the Week: After the Trojans fell into a 2-0 hole late in the game on an Arizona penalty kick, defender Marlee Carrillo put the team on her back in staging a powerful USC comeback. Less than five minutes after that Wildcat PK, Carrillo scored in the 83rd minute to get USC on the board. In the 86th minute, Carrillo drilled the equalizer for the Trojans, tying it up 2-2 to force overtime. Carrillo had scored just one goal last season as a freshman, making this outing the sophomore's first two-goal game.
USC Men's Student Athlete of the Week: Junior Yannick Hanfmann brought home the singles crown at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships after defeating Alex Sarkissian of Pepperdine in Malibu, 6-3, 4-6, 6-0. #18 Hanfmann got a break in the first set and held on to take the early advantage, but #23 Sarkissian answered back in taking the second and forcing a third. The junior shut out Sarkissian in the third, 6-0, to seal the victory. Hanfmann's road to the title included a bye in the round of 128, a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Jacob Spizman (Grand Canyon) and then a round of 32 6-0-, 6-2 victory over Juan Flores (San Diego State). He then faced Joseph Di Giulio (UCLA) in the round of 16, defeating him 7-5, 6-4 to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarters, Hanfmann took down another Bruin, Dennis Mkrtchian, 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals where he took care of Tobias Galskov (UCSB), 6-3, 6-3.
