USC's Steve Johnson continues to impress during his summer run through tournaments far and wide. His more recent impressive exploit came in the qualifying round of the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, Ohio.

As Johnson has cruised around various tours, playing as an amateur after winning the 2011 NCAA Singles Championship, he has made his way through several ATP World Tour events. A wildcard entry into Cincinnati Open qualifying this past weekend, Johnson went up against ninth-seeded Jeremy Chardy of France. Johnson proved resilient against the No. 58-ranked player in the world, and tacked up a 7-6 (9), 6-4 win over Chardy.

Johnson fell to Edouard Roger-Vasselin on Sunday to come up just short of the main draw in Cincinnati.
