    Daniel Nguyen, Amanda Smith Win Pac-12 Conference Medals

    Men's tennis player Daniel Nguyen and women's swimmer Amanda Smith today were named USC's winners of 2011-12 Pac-12 Tom Hansen Conference Medals.

    A Conference Medal is awarded annually to each Pac-12 member institution's outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.

    Nguyen helped the USC men's tennis team capture its fourth consecutive NCAA championship in 2012, while Smith captained the Women of Troy swim team to a third place finish at the 2012 NCAA Meet.

    Both Nguyen and Smith were All-Americans in 2012. They both won USC Student Recognition Award for excelling both inside and outside the classroom, as well as being awarded Pac-12 Post-Graduate Scholarships for demonstrating a commitment to continuing education, campus and community involvement, and leadership.
