Trojan Senior Trio Pick Up ITA All-American Honors

Yannick Hanfmann is officially a five-time ITA All-American!
    June 4, 2015

Three USC seniors have wrapped their Trojan tennis careers with one last round of ITA All-American accolades. Yannick Hanfmann has added to his career count in picking up All-American honors in singles and in doubles this season. He and partner Roberto Quiroz teamed up to great success this year, scoring Quiroz another set of ITA All-American honors in doubles. Meanwhile, Jonny Wang's powerful final season as a Trojan has garnered him his first-ever ITA All-American status, having stormed through a strong singles season as a senior.

Senior Yannick Hanfmann had secured his latest set of ITA All-American accolades on his way into this year's NCAA Tournament as a 9-16 seed in the singles draw and the No. 3 seeded doubles team alongside partner Roberto Quiroz. Although he and Quiroz would fall to the eventual champions in the Round of 32, Hanfmann charged on in singles and pocketed some extra insurance for his singles All-American status with a journey to the Round of 16. So too, would fellow senior Jonny Wang. Wang made a statement in delivering a three-set upset of the No. 2 seed in the draw to ice his first career ITA All-American honor with his trip to the NCAA Round of 16. That All-American Trojan trio would also finish out their careers solidly in the top-50 of the final ITA rankings. In doubles, Hanfmann and Quiroz wrap 2015 ranked #4 in the land. In singles, Hanfmann leads the charge at #14 in the nation, followed up #23 Quiroz and #42 Wang.

At season's end, the Trojans also have three others locked into the national rankings. Senior Eric Johnson wraps his illustrious Trojan career not only as a two-time NCAA Team Champion alongside his fellow seniors, but also ranked #74 in the nation in singles and in doubles alongside partner Max de Vroome. Junior de Vroome, too, is lodged into both the singles and doubles rankings. Along with his #74 doubles standing with Johnson, de Vroome finishes his third season as a Trojan ranked #101 in the nation in singles. The sixth Trojan to enjoy a place in the final ITA rankings is sophomore Nick Crystal, who weighs in at #75 in the nation in singles after a stellar second season at Troy.
