ATHENS, GA. - With ITA All-American status already in the books, two Trojan tennis standouts have blasted their ways into tomorrow's NCAA Singles Quarterfinals. Defending singles champ Steve Johnson is through to the quarters in singles on his 69th straight singles win and in doubles with Roberto Quiroz on their 21st straight doubles win together as Johnson continues his pursuit of an NCAA triple crown following the Trojans' fourth straight national team championship won earlier this week. On the women's side, freshman Sabrina Santamaria pinned up her sixth consecutive win and third consecutive straight-set decision with her victory in today's NCAA Quarterfinals at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.

Freshman Zoë Scandalis had a top-20 opponent for the fourth time in her last five matches, facing Stanford's #5 Mallory Burdette for the second time since Scandalis topped her in three to win the Freeman Memorial title back in January. Fifth-seeded Burdette was able to take control in this one, however, as #14 Scandalis took a 6-0, 6-3 loss to the Stanford junior. That wrapped Scandalis' freshman season with ITA All-American status for her to go along with a 36-14 overall singles record in her first year at Troy. Scandalis was USC's top gun in the ladder during dual-match play as she helped lead the Women of Troy to the NCAA Semifinals in USC's winningest season since 1985.

USC's lone solider in NCAA men's singles play is senior Steve Johnson - the defending NCAA singles champ fresh off his fourth straight NCAA Team title with the Trojans. Johnson was up against LSU's #55 Neal Skupski, who had dished out upset wins in the first two rounds of singles play here in Athens. Johnson got up an early break in the first set and held for a 6-3 win. In the second, Skupski fought hard to hold serve against the top-seeded Johnson as the set locked up 5-5. With Johnson op 30-0 with Skupski at the service line, Skupski went down with an apparent ankle injury while chasing down a Johnson shot. He would return to gauge his strength with a serve, but retired from the match due to the injury. The win for Johnson puts the senior at a 69-match singles win streak as he continues his pursuit of back-to-back NCAA singles titles with a trip to tomorrow's NCAA Quarterfinals.

Not to be left out of the Trojan push to the quarterfinals, USC freshman Sabrina Santamaria held up her end of the bargain for the Women of Troy, keeping the USC contingent represented in the next round as she dispatched Baylor's #23 Nina Secerbegovic 6-4, 6-4 up on the top courts. A late break got Santamaria the first set, and she replicated that winning effort in the second to wrap up the win and punch her ticket to the NCAA Quarterfinals. The last USC woman to reach the NCAA Quarterfinals was Maria Sanchez in 2010.

Later that afternoon, Steve Johnson retook the courts with his trusty doubles partner, freshman Roberto Quiroz. The pair rolled into today's NCAA Doubles Round of 16 with a perfect 20-0 mark together on the year. Up against Alabama's #28 Botha/Doverspike, the Trojans had to hand on in the second after gathering in a late break in the first for the win. In the second, the teams traded breaks to stay on serve as the day heated up before Johnson/Quiroz made a stand with a break and then a Quiroz hold to win it 6-3, 7-5. With the trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals comes All-American status for both Johnson and Quiroz in the doubles realm, registering freshman Quiroz as a first-time All-American and Johnson as a seven-time All-American - four-time singles and three-time doubles.
