While in hot pursuit of a fourth straight NCAA Team Championship with his Trojan teammates, USC senior Daniel Nguyen has also picked up accolades for his strength in the classroom this week. Nguyen has been selected to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District men's at-large team as one of the top tennis talents in the nation while also carrying a 3.43 GPA as a communication major at USC.

A senior captain, Nguyen is joined by USC swimmer Alex Lendrum on the District 8 Academic All-District team, putting both Trojans in line for potential selection as Academic All-Americans.

Currently ranked #21 in the nation in singles and #35 in doubles, Nguyen and the top-ranked Trojans are now in Athens, Ga., where they are next set to play in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Sunday (May 20) as they look to defend three straight national championships. Nguyen holds a 32-8 overall record in singles play this season, with a 21-3 mark in dual matches. His senior season doubles record stands at 29-3 overall and 21-2 in dual matches to date.

Nguyen had the match-clinching singles wins for USC's 2010 and 2011 NCAA title, and he was named the 2010 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Outside of the courts and the classroom, Nguyen is active in Trojan Athletic Senate, and he was selected last year as a 2011 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar. More athletic accolades have come in his career with honors as a 2012 ITA National Team Indoor Championship All-Tournament Team selection, the 2012 Sherwood Collegiate Doubles Champion, 2012 All-Pac-12 First Team honors, 2011 All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention, 2010 & 2011 Pac-10 All-Academic Second Team, 2010 All-Pac-10 Second Team and 2009 & 2010 NCAA All-Tournament Team.
