Sabrina Santamaria of the women's tennis team, Tony Ciarelli of the men's volleyball team and Yannick Hanfmann of the men's tennis team were named USC Credit Union Student Athletes of the Week today (April 16) for the week of April 9-15.

Women's Tennis: USC freshman Sabrina Santamaria fought back to a strong win over Stanford's #52 Stacey Tan, turning over a 2-5 deficit in the first set to win the next five games and win that set, building extra momentum for the second set to notch a 7-5, 6-1 win that marked USC's first point of the day vs. the then-undefeated Cardinal. The next day, Santamaria's singles strength helped spark a team comeback. She beat Cal's #61 Anett Schutting 6-0, 6-4 to again tally USC's first point in the match, and the Trojans would win the next three singles matches to claim a big 4-3 win over the Bears in Berkeley. USC stays within reach of the Pac-12 title in improving to 19-3 overall and 8-1 in conference play after the road trip. Santamaria now holds a nine-match singles win streak to grab her 30th win as a Trojan, holding a 30-5 overall record and an 19-1 mark in dual matches.

Men's Volleyball: Tony Ciarelli was named MPSF Player of the Week (April 16) for the league-best third time in 2012 after leading USC to sweeps at No. 8 Long Beach State (he served an MPSF and USC all-era match-record 11 aces, and he also had a match-high 9 kills along with 3 blocks) and at No. 11 Cal State Northridge (he had a match-high 19 kills while hitting an astronomical .818, with just 1 error on 22 attempts, in USC's MPSF title-clinching win).

Men's Tennis: USC freshman Yannick Hanfmann swept through singles and doubles to help anchor USC to two big Pac-12 wins and bulk up the Trojans' win streak to 45 straight games while pushing USC to 25-0 overall and 6-0 in Pac-12 play. Hanfmann shined brightest in his No. 4 singles win over Cal's Christoffer Konigsfeldt, when he pulled out a tight 7-5 win in his first set and rolled to a 7-5, 6-2 win that put USC up 3-0 in that match. The previous day, he and doubles teammate Emilio Gomez clinched the doubles point, and then Hanfmann would cruise to the first singles win of the match on a 6-2, 6-0 win over Robert Stinemann to help record USC's second shutout win over the Cardinal this season. Hanfmann is now 32-7 overall in singles and 19-3 in dual-match play. He and Gomez are 17-1 in doubles overall and 10-1 in dual matches.
