Playing in just his second dual match in the past 12 due to injury, senior Peter Lucassen put up a strong win in his return to the singles courts. For his comeback efforts, Lucassen has been named the Pac-10 Player of the Week for the first time in his Trojan career.

His 6-4, 6-3 win over Borja Malo of Arizona helped lift the No. 2 Trojans to their 12th straight victory. Injury-plagued Lucassen, meanwhile, improved his singles record to 12-10 overall and provided his first singles win since February 4 as he has struggled to heal and return to action.

As a team, USC moves one match away from securing the Pac-10 title as the Trojans are now 19-2 overall and 5-0 in Pac-10 play. Lucassen was selected to the 2010 NCAA All-Tournament Team last year and is one of two seniors on the USC roster this season.

Lucassen is now the fifth Trojan to pick up a Pac-10 Player of the Week award this year, as USC has dominated the honor roll with seven selections now to date. Steve Johnson and Jaak Poldma have two each, with Lucassen joining Emilio Gomez and Ray Sarmiento as first-time honorees this year.
