Feb. 12, 2008
USC senior Kaes Van't Hof has earned the third Pac-10 Player of the Week honor of his Trojan career after picking up two more singles and doubles wins over the weekend. Van't Hof extended his win streaks in both categories to five straight during USC dual match victories over Clemson and Boise State, helping the Trojans remain undefeated with a 7-0 overall record on the year.
In USC's 6-1 win over Clemson and 5-2 win over Boise State, Van't Hof won his fourth and fifth straight singles matches, including a win over a top-20 opponent. Playing at the No. 2 singles position, Van't Hof first beat Clemson's Kevin Fleck 6-3, 7-6 (4). The next day, he came up against Boise States #19 Clancy Shields, whom Van't Hof dispatched 6-3, 6-2. Also playing at the No. 1 doubles slot, Van't Hof and teammate Robert Farah have posted an identical win streak, winning two more over the weekend for five straight in doubles play - undefeated in dual matches. Van't Hof is now 11-6 overall in singles and holds an 18-3 overall record in doubles with Farah.
Van't Hof is the first Trojan to win the Pac-10 weekly honor this season. He has now earned three of USC's five all-time Pac-10 Player of the Week awards.
Van't Hof and the Trojans now prepare to compete at the ITA Men's National Team Indoor Championships, held Feb. 14-16 in Seattle.
