    The USC men's and women's tennis teams are setting up to host ITA action this week with the kick-off to the ITA National Indoor Championships opening up at Marks Stadium. Four men's teams and four women's teams will square off in qualifying competition, beginning with the men's matches on Friday and women's matches opening on Saturday. The Trojan men have their first match set for 1 p.m. on Friday (Jan. 30) and the Women of Troy open at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday (Jan. 31).

    USC women's head coach enters the weekend just one win away from reaching a landmark 300th career win, holding a 299-128 overall head coaching record on the way into Saturday's women's kickoff.

    On the men's side, USC is joined by Mississippi State, San Diego and St. Mary's. On Friday (Jan. 30) San Diego and St. Mary's will face off at 10 a.m., followed by a 1 p.m. match between host USC and Mississippi State. On Saturday (Jan. 31), the winning teams will play at 2:30 p.m. and the losing teams meet at 5:30 p.m.

    Ranked No. 6 in the latest national poll (released Jan. 29) the USC men hold a perfect 3-0 record coming into the qualifier thanks to 7-0 sweeps of LMU and Sacramento State and 6-1 win over San Diego in the past week. Four USC men are nationally ranked in singles along with two ranked doubles teams.

    In women's competition, USC welcomes Michigan State, Texas A&M and St. Mary's to Los Angeles. Opening matches are set for Saturday (Jan. 31) with St. Mary's and Texas A&M playing at 8:30 a.m. followed by an 11:30 a.m. meeting between USC and Michigan State. On Sunday (Feb. 1), the losing teams play first at 10 a.m., and the winning teams will face each other at 1 p.m.

    The USC women hold a No. 10 national ranking (as of Jan. 29) and are now 2-0 after a 6-1 opening win over UC Irvine and a 7-0 victory over Long Beach State to kick off the 2009 season. Five USC women are nationally ranked in singles along with three ranked doubles pairs.
