Already carrying two wins on the season, the USC men's tennis team continues its eight-match home stand with today's face-off against San Diego State at 12:30 p.m. at Marks Stadium. The Trojans enter the 2007 season ranked No. 43 in the nation, and quickly posted back-to-back 7-0 sweeps in their opening doubleheader last week.

The Aztecs sit at No. 49 in the ITA national rankings. They opened their season with a pair of 5-2 wins over Concordia and UC Riverside last week, after which Markus Dickhardt was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week. San Diego State's highest ranked player is No. 28 Christian Groh. Standing tallest in the singles rankings for the Trojans is freshman Jason McNaughton at No. 91.

USC returns eight players from its 2006 roster, including players who consistently filled in the dual match singles ladder: Jamil Al-Agba, Dejan Cvetkovic, Kaes Van't Hof, Adam Loucks, Garrett Snyder and Chong Wang. All six tacked up at least one win in USC's opening doubleheader with LMU and CalPoly last week.

The Trojans have plenty of tennis ahead of them, however. Following today's 12:30 p.m. match with SDSU, USC opens Pac-10 play against Stanford and Cal on Feb. 2 and 3 -- both at 1 p.m. The Trojans start off the 2007 dual match season with eight straight home matches, with today's match standing as the third in that run.
