FLUSHING, N.Y. -- Ray Sarmiento shrugged off a first-set loss and got in winning gear today to take his place in tomorrow's singles Round of 16 out at the ITA National Indoor Championships. The #9 ranked Trojan scoots into a matchup against Virginia newcomer Mac Styslinger tomorrow in Flushing, N.Y.

Sarmiento was up against Columbia's #95 Winston Lin to open up his singles draw action today. In that Round of 32 matchup, Lin got the early advantage with a win in the first set, but Sarmiento would regroup and take control as he pushed through to a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory that moves him along in the draw.

USC also had one team -- ITA Regional Doubles champs Yannick Hanfmann and Eric Johnson -- lined up in the doubles draw today. The Trojan team would come up short of advancement, however, falling 8-5 to a pair from North Florida to wrap up Hanfmann/Johnson's run in the doubles main draw.
