USC's Farah/Johnson Capture ITA Regional Championship Title|

MALIBU, CALIF. - The USC men's tennis duo of junior Robert Farah and freshman Steve Johnson combined forces for their first doubles title this week at the ITA West-South Regional Tournament at Pepperdine. The top-seeded Trojans defeated the second seeded Pepperdine team of Omar Altmann and Bassam Beidas 8-5 in today's doubles championship match. The win puts Farah back in a familiar spot with his first doubles title since his 2008 NCAA Championship title with graduated partner Kaes Van't Hof.
USC freshman Matt Kecki was the Trojans' top finisher in the singles competition, leading a group of eight USC players entered in singles play. With a 6-4, 6-1 win over Matt Brooklyn in the quarterfinals, Kecki advanced to today's semifinals, where he fell to top seed Bassam Beidas of Pepperdine 6-2, 6-2. Kecki was joined in the singles quarterfinals by two other Trojan teammates. Freshman Steven Johnson got into the quarters before falling in a three-setter to Omar Altmann 3-6, 7-6, 6-2. Senior Abdullah Magdas also took a trip to the quarterfinals, and was also handed a three-set loss, this one by No. 13 seed Dennis Lajola 7-6, 6-7, 7-6.
Also getting wins during the regional singles action were freshmen Andrew Kells and Daniel Nguyen, who won their first-round matches during the tournament. Junior Jason McNaughton reached the Round of 16.
