Two Trojans Qualify For ITA Men's All-American Main Draw|

TULSA, OKLA. -- The USC men's tennis team will be loaded up with four Trojans competing in the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Men's Championships singles main draw thanks to a winning push through qualifying by Michael Grant and Jonny Wang. The pair pinned up three wins apiece during qualifying competition in Tulsa, Okla., each capping their efforts with a three-set victory today in crunch time. Main draw action is set to run Oct. 3-6 in Tulsa, Okla.
Grant and Wang were two of four Trojans competing in the qualification rounds this week. Junior #58 Eric Johnson took a loss in the opening round, while sophomore Max de Vroome pulled out a three-setter in his first-round match before taking a tumble in round two. Senior #80 Michael Grant, meanwhile, pinned up back-to-back straight-set wins to reach the all-important third round, where he today topped VCU's Alexis Huegas 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 to punch his ticket to the main draw. Junior #63 Jonny Wang won in straight sets to start things off, and then beat two ranked opponents, including today's 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 comeback effort over #83 Nick Chappell of TCU to advance.
Already set up with main draw singles slots were senior #8 Ray Sarmiento and junior #25 Roberto Quiroz. Sarmiento is seeded No. 7 for the action, opening up against Texas A&M's qualifier #56 Shane Vinsant. Quiroz will line up against No. 10 seed #12 Japie DeKlerk of Tulsa. Grant has a showdown with No. 3 seeded #4 Ryan Lipman of Vanderbilt, and Wang faces No. 2 seed #3 Peter Kobelt of Ohio State.
