TULSA, OKLA. - USC's second-seeded doubles pair of Robert Farah and Kaes Van't Hof outlasted their opponents on Friday to claim the Trojans' 23rd consecutive win and advance to tomorrow's NCAA Doubles Quarterfinals at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. Farah/Van't Hof pulled out a 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 win over Boise State's Shields brothers in Friday's NCAA Round of 16. The Trojans pair will face Tulsa's own Connelly/Cunningham on the quarterfinals at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday (May 24).

In order to hold rank and keep momentum going in doubles play, Farah/Van't Hof got a late break against Shields/Shields to take the first set 7-5. In the second, however, Boise State managed two late breaks on the Trojans to work the match into a third set. USC's sophomore-senior duo took control of the third, however. With the set tied 3-3, USC broke Boise State for a 4-3 edge. Van't Hof held strong to get USC up 5-3 and then the Trojans got one last break to secure the match and a trip to tomorrow's quarterfinals.

Earlier in the day in singles play, USC sophomore Robert Farah had his NCAA singles run stopped with a 7-5, 6-3 loss to 9-16 seed Denes Lukacs of Baylor in the Round of 16. Sixth-seeded Farah was passed up in the first set and then went down an early break against Lukacs in the second. Lukacs' strong service game kept the Baylor player a step ahead down the stretch, leaving Farah with a loss to close out the sophomore's singles season with a 35-15 overall record.
