Los Angeles -- The No. 21 USC men's tennis team left Utah scoreless with a 7-0 victory Tuesday afternoon at Marks Tennis Stadium. With the win, the Trojans improve to 10-2 overall, while the Utes drop to 6-5.
Earning victories at No. 1 and 3 doubles, USC entered singles play with a 1-0 lead. The Trojans quickly set the tone for the match in singles with five decisive first-set wins on courts 1 through 5, not allowing any Utah player to score more than two points.
Andrew Park was the first off the court for USC with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over David Mercier at No. 1. The Trojans' Damien Spizzo and Nick Rainey followed with respective wins at courts four and three over Daniel Carlsson (6-0, 6-2) and Nicholas Yip (6-2, 6-2) to guarantee the USC win with a 4-0 lead.
USC will next face 13th-ranked Illinois on Thursday, March 15, at 1:30 p.m. at Marks Tennis Stadium.
