USC Men Sweep Doubleheader|

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. -- The No. 43-ranked USC men's tennis team kicked off the 2007 dual match season with a clean sweep of visiting LMU and Cal Poly. The Trojans downed the Lions 7-0 with straight-set wins at all six singles slots, then followed that up with a 7-0 win over the Murstangs to close out the doubleheader without dropping a single set.
After cleaning up in doubles to grab the first point of the match, USC settled into singles play against LMU. Junior Dejan Cvetkovic stepped back into his No. 1 singles position to post a 6-4, 7-6 (3) win. No. 2 singles standout Kaes Van't Hof downed LMU's Nikola Petrov 6-4, 6-2 to get his junior season off to a similar start.
Picking up two wins to open dual match action were senior Garrett Snyder and sophomore Chong Wang. Snyder won his No. 4 singles match against LMU 6-1, 6-2, then won again at that position against Cal Poly 6-2, 7-5. Wang cruised past his LMU opponent 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 5 position, then moved up to No. 3 against Cal Poly, positing a 6-2, 7-5 win.
Three new Trojans also got in on the action on Saturday, with Robert Farah beating LMU's Jacek Twaroarski 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Freshman Gary Sacks got a win at No. 6 over LMU's Matt Phillips, 6-0, 6-0, and freshman Jason McNaughton topped Cal Poly's Royble 6-1, 6-2 from his No. 2 slot.
Against Cal Poly, senior Jamil Al-Agba stepped into the No. 1 position and toppled Matt Baca 6-2, 6-1. Also in that Cal Poly match, fellow senior Whit Livingston won at No. 6, 6-2, 6-1, and junior Adam Loucks won at No. 5 6-2, 7-6 (7).
The Trojans return to action on Friday (Jan. 26) with a 12:30 p.m. home match against San Diego State.
