THIS SEASON:
Garrett Wong enters his second season at USC... Went 0-4 in the fall after competeing at the Napa Challenge and the SCTA Championships.
2001:
Wong competed at two fall tournaments (SCTA Championships and ITA Rolex Regionals) as a freshman (0-2)... He also played three regular dual matches (0-3) at No. 6 and played the first round of the Pac-10 Invitational (0-1)... In doubles he played matches with Parker Collins (0-1) and Christian Jensen (1-2).
PREP EXPERIENCE:
Wong is a 2000 graduate of Westlake (Calif.) High ... A three-year letterwinner as a freshman, sophomore and senior, he was named to the All-Marmonte League first team each season ... As a freshman, he was awarded the Westlake Sportsmanship Award ... He helped guide the Warriors to the 2000 CIF Division III Championship ... In 1997 and 1998 the team finished as the CIF Runner-Up ... With only two team losses when Wong played, Westlake was a three-time league champion ... Honored as a three-time Scholar Athlete.
PERSONAL:
Garrett John Wong was born on Aug. 1, 1983, in San Francisco, Calif. ... The son of Raymond and Yeman Wong, he has one brother, Brad, and one sister, Stephanie ... His most thrilling moment in sports was reaching the finals of the Anaheim Tennis Center Tournament (Boys Under-10 Division) ... Chose USC for its excellent combination of athletics and academics ... His major is undeclared.
