THIS SEASON: Ray Sarmiento enters his sophomore season at USC as an All-American.
2010-11 SEASON: Sarmiento earned honors as an ITA All-American in singles after a push to the 2011 NCAA Singles Round of 16 after helping USC win the NCAA Team Championship... Won the 2011 Pac-10 Doubles Championship with Steve Johnson... Was named to the All-Pac-10 Second Team, and was a two-time Pac-10 Player of the Week... Played in the NCAA Doubles first round with Johnson... Finished the season ranked No. 39 in the nation in ITA singles and No. 32 in doubles with Johnson... Went 36-10 overall in singles, going 21-3 in dual matches... Played primarily at the No. 4 singles position, going 16-3 at that spot... Was undefeated 6-0 in Pac-10 dual matches... Also played at No. 2 (2-0) and No. 3 (3-0)... In doubles, was 28-9 overall, including a 15-4 mark in dual matches... Was 14-6 overall with Johnson, including a 4-3 mark in dual matches at the No. 1 position... Also went 9-2 with Daniel Nguyen, including a 9-1 mark in dual matches (8-1 at No. 3 and 1-0 at No. 2)... Was 2-1 with Peter Lucassen (1-0 at No. 3) and 1-0 at No. 3 with Michael Grant... Entered the spring No. 91 in the first 2011 ITA singles rankings... In the fall, Sarmiento the No. 9 ranked freshman in the nation... Went 8-4 in fall singles, winning the Battle in the Bay championship and reaching the quarterfinals at the ITA Southwest Regionals... Went 4-1 with Johnson in the fall, 1-1 with Peter Lucassen, 0-1 with Daniel Nguyen and 3-0 with JT Sundling at the Battle in the Bay.

Won 2009 International Grass Court Championships in singles and doubles... Won 2008 Boys 16s Eddie Herr International Championships... PERSONAL: Raymond Sarmiento was born July 24, 1992 in Glendale, Calif.... Son of Resty and Marilou... Has two brothers, Michael and Jason... Says playing against Andre Agassi when he was 12 at the LA Open is one of his most thrilling sports moments... Enjoys playing basketball in his free time, and lists Kobe Bryant as his biggest sports hero... Has always wanted to skydive, and would like to one day visit Hawai'i... Has not decided on a major...
