George Husack enters his third season as the associate head coach for USC men's tennis, and is fresh off a 2011 selection as the ITA Southwest Regional Coach of the Year. Husack came to Troy after serving two seasons as associate head coach at Illinois, and now boasts 15 years of coaching experience at the Division I level, including five seasons as head coach at Santa Clara.

"George was my number one choice and I am so happy for our program that he will be a part of it," USC head coach Peter Smith said of Husack. "He is a complete coach with a ton of experience and he will help us from A to Z."

At Illinois, Husack helped guide the Illini to NCAA Round of 16 appearances in both seasons, extending Illinois' run to eight straight trips to the Round of 16. As associate head coach at Illinois, he was primarily responsible for recruiting and player development. He also trained four former Illini competing on the pro tour.

As a head coach at Santa Clara, Husack got the Broncos to a program-best 20-8 record in 2007 and saw Santa Clara top the conference with six All-WCC selections. He had served as a Santa Clara assistant coach for seven seasons (1995-2002) before taking over as head coach in 2002. During his time at Santa Clara, the Broncos achieved several program firsts, including national rankings for team, singles and doubles.

Husack also was selected to coach Team NorCal at the USTA National Team Championships in 2005 and 2006.

As a player, Husack spent two years competing on the International Tennis Federation's Satellite Tour, traveling to Mexico, Germany, Japan and throughout the United States. For two years, he played at the No. 1 singles and doubles positions for Tus-Breitscheid of the German Club Tennis League, winning the division championship in 1997.

A native of San Mateo, Calif., Husack played at San Diego State, where he served as team captain as a senior and helped the Aztecs to their first-ever top-25 national ranking. He graduated with a bachelor's in finance in 1991 and later earned an MBA in marketing from the University of San Francisco in 1995. Husack and his wife, Kristina, were married in November 2006. They have three children: Nina, who was born Sept. 2, 2008, and twins Grant and Greta, who were born April 23 and April 24, 2010, respectively.
