THIS SEASON: Joel Giger enters his sophomore season at USC... In the fall, went 3-4 in fall singles and 2-2 in doubles with Michael Grant, competing at the SDSU Fall Invitational and the ITA Southwest Regional.
2009-10 SEASON: Giger went 1-3 overall in singles, including a 1-0 mark in dual match play... In doubles, went 0-1 with Ben Lankenau... During the fall, went 0-2 in singles play.
HIGH SCHOOL: Giger was named the best 18-and-under player in Switzerland in 2004... Also was the 2005 Swiss 16-and-under Champion... A 2008 graduate of Boca Prep International in Boca Raton, Fla.... An honor student... Also competed for the Swiss Tennis Federation as a 12- and 14-and-under.
PERSONAL: Joel Giger was born Jan. 24, 1990 in Busserach, Switzerland... Parents are Guido and Kim... Has one brother, Alain... Enjoys surfing in his free time... Lists Roger Federer as his biggest sports hero... Would like to travel to Asia, Hawaii and New York... Hopes to play professionally after graduation... Has not decided on a major.
