    Morozov Wins 100 Free For Second Gold At Short Course Worlds

    USC junior Vladimir Morozov won the 100-meter freestyle for his second gold medal and added a silver on a relay, former Trojan Katinka Hosszu reached five total medals and sophomore Andrea Kropp swam in the final of the 200-meter breaststroke to close out the 2012 FINA Short Course World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, on Sunday (Dec. 16).

    The All-American Morozov, who won the 50m free earlier in the meet, dominated the 100m free in 45.65, 1.15 ahead of Australia's Tommaso D'orssogna. Morozov then anchored Russia's silver medal 400m medley relay effort, clocking the fastest final leg.

    Hosszu, who finished her career at USC in March as one of Troy's all-time greats, won her fifth medal of the week by taking second in the 200m free in 1:54.31, 0.72 back of American winner Allison Schmitt. Hosszu also won silver in the 200m IM on Saturday, falling by just 0.08 to China's Ye Shiwen. Hosszu finished with two golds, two silvers and one bronze.

    Kropp, third at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 200m breast, earned a spot in the final with a fourth-place prelim effort of 2:21.23. She improved her effort to 2:20.08 in the final, good for fifth overall.
