    The USC men's and women's swimming and diving teams open the non-conference schedule by hosting the USC Invitational, a meet broken up into three sessions spanning Friday and Saturday (Oct. 9-10) at USC's McDonald's Swim Stadium.

    Action opens Friday at 1 p.m. and continues Saturday with sessions at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Among the competing schools are Cal State Northridge and Cal State Bakersfield.

    The meet will include a variety of non-traditional events and will include long course meters as well as short course yards and meters.

    USC's women's team is led by sophomore Katinka Hosszu, a 2009 World Championship gold and silver medalist as well as a three-time finalist at the 2009 NCAA Championships. Sophomore diver Victoria Ishimatsu is another returning All-American while seniors Dina Hegazy and Krissy Forelli, junior Ellie Doran and sophomore Tanya Krisman are returning NCAA Championships participants.

    The Women of Troy said goodbye to six-time NCAA champion Rebecca Soni as well as All-Americans Kristen Lahey and Rachael Waller and 2009 NCAA point scorer Katy Houston.

    On the men's side, USC will be led by senior co-captain James Martin and senior Zoltan Povazsay, both 2009 NCAA Championships participants while sophomore diver Harrison Jones is a returning All-American. Juniors Dillon Connolly and diver Steven Starks and sophomores Josh Joiner and Patrick White are also returning NCAA Championships participants for the Trojans. Among the departed Trojans from last season are former All-American Vanni Mangoni as well as NCAA Championships participant Kevin Bartell.

     

     

    Both the men's and women's teams will be buoyed greatly by recruiting classes ranked among the top in the country. USC's women's class was ranked No. 1 by CollegeSwimming.com while its men's class was listed as No. 3.
