Swim, Dive Teams Kick Off Season With Cardinal & Gold Meet|
Sept. 4, 2014
The USC men's and women's swimming and diving teams, coming off a pair of top 8 finishes at the 2014 NCAA Championships, kick off the 2014-15 campaign with the annual Cardinal & Gold exhibition meet at Uytengsu Aquatics Center on Friday (Sept. 5) at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
The women's team finished fifth at last year's NCAA Championships for its fifth straight Top 7 finish, one of only 3 teams to finish in the top 7 in each of the past 5 years. The men's team finished eighth at the NCAA Championships for its fourth straight top 8 result.
Senior diver Haley Ishimatsu returns as the two-time defending NCAA champion on platform after becoming the first woman in more than 2 decades to repeat as champion on the board.
The men's team was led by Cristian Quintero, who won his first NCAA title in the 500y free and led USC's NCAA title-winning 800y free relay with the graduated Dimitri Colupaev and current sophomores Reed Malone and Dylan Carter.
The teams combined for 18 All-Americans and seven conference titles last year with expectations for even more this season.
