USC incoming freshman Vladimir Morozov of Torrance (Calif.) High, the fastest prep swimmer in the nation in 2010 who moved to the U.S. from Siberia three years ago, has been named Swimming World's Male High School Swimmer of the Year.
Morozov finished his brilliant prep career at the end of May by setting national high school records at the 2010 CIF Southern Section Division III Championships and at the CIF Southern Section Masters Meet.
His first record came at the CIF Division III Championships, where his opening 50 yards of the 200y free relay (19.43) broke a national mark. After winning CIF titles in the 100y fly and the 100y back, he came back at the CIF Masters meet to lead off a 400y free relay with a 100 yards in 42.87 for another national record.
Morozov is a former member of the Russian National team who moved to the U.S. his freshman season. He was named the South Bay Daily Breeze 2009 and 2010 Swimmer of the Year.
