Incoming USC recruit Steven Stumph tied Olympic gold medalist Brendan Hansen's national public high school record in the 100-yard breaststroke at the recent 2013 North Coast Section Championships on May 17.
Stumph swam a 53.67 in the prelims, tying Hansen's time from 2000, which he sent as a prep swimmer in Pennsylvania. The mark is the oldest record on the books.
Stumph's time also lowered his own NCS meet record of 54.06.
