USC junior Vladimir Morozov was named Pac-12 Men's Swimmer of the Month for January, the Conference office announced Wednesday.

Morozov, a Russian native who moved to Redondo Beach, Calif., in high school, nabbed his first conference swimmer of the month honor after he enjoyed a record-setting month. He opened January by winning the 50 free (19.67) and leading USC's 200 medley and 400 free relay teams to wins against Hawaii. Against Wisconsin, he turned in a time of 19.57 to win the 50 free and led the Trojans to a win in the 200 free relay.

He closed out the month in spectacular fashion at the Swim Classic at SMU, where on the first day, he tied the school record in the 100 breast (52.73) and won the 50 free with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 19.28. He also swam the first leg (backstroke) of the 400 medley relay, an event in which USC finished second by 0.05. His 100y back split (46.69) made him the second-fastest Trojan ever in the race. On the second night, Morozov broke his own school record in the 100 free (41.70) and helped USC come from behind to beat Michigan in the 200 free relay. He turned in an NCAA-best time of 19.21 on the opening leg of the relay. His time of 41.70 in the 100 free was also the fastest time in the country.
