Jan. 16, 2015
The USC men's and women's diving teams, led by senior two-time NCAA champion Haley Ishimatsu, will compete at the Bruin Diving Invitational, Saturday through Monday (Jan. 17-19), at UCLA's Spieker Aquatics Center.
Action begins Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with men's 1-meter and women's 3-meter. Sunday diving begins at 11 a.m. with men's 3-meter and women's 1-meter while Monday's platform event begins at 10 a.m.
USC, under head coach Hongping Li, is taking 12 divers to the meet, including four women's divers who have already qualified for the 2015 NCAA Zone E Championships and five men's divers.
Ishimatsu, who won back-to-back NCAA platform titles the past two seasons, owns USC's top scores this year on all three boards on the women's side while junior Sam Adams, a career five-time Pac-12 finalist, has USC's second highest scores on each board. Also competing will be juniors Natalie Kalibat, Jacqui Suitt, Katherine Van Winkle and freshmen Annie Whelan and Alexa Cacao.
Junior Collin Pollard has USC's top score on 1-meter while junior transfer Deon Reid owns Troy's highest marks this year on 3-meter and platform. Pollard was a three-time 2014 Pac-12 finalist as a sophomore transfer last year. Senior Jordan Gear, a career three-time Pac-12 finalist and a seven-time Zone E finalist, will also compete, as will junior Adam Payne and freshman Dashiell Enos.
