Gear, Ishimatsu Lead USC At Trojan Diving Invite|

Freshman Jordan Gear reached the final of men's 3-meter while senior teammate Victoria Ishimatsu swept the 1-meter and platform on the women's side to lead host USC on a cold and rainy first day of the 2011 Trojan Diving Invitational on Friday (Nov. 4) at USC's McDonald's Swim Stadium.
Ishimatsu, an All-American as a freshman and a sophomore and a five-time career Pac-10 champion, won the morning's 1-meter with 306.95 points, nicely ahead of Arizona's Samantha Pickens (277.60). Trojan freshman Jessie Warren finished 16th (194.10) in the 25-woman event.
On platform, Ishimatsu claimed first with 254.25 with a comfortable margin over Cal's second-place Kahley Rowell (224.40). Warren took 11th (168.85).
The Trojans were led on the men's side by Gear, who was fifth on 3-meter with 301.70 points. Teammate Cody Walwick was 19th (169.30).
Arizona's Benjamin Grado won the 3-meter with 424.15, edging BYU's Brandon Watson (411.10). Grado came back later to also win the platform with 338.10 points.
The event concludes Saturday with men's 1-meter and women's 3-meter beginning at 10 a.m.
