THIS SEASON: Steven Starks, a 2010 junior who was an NCAA Championships point scorer as a freshman and sophomore, is one of the top divers in the Pac-10 whose steady growth may point to his first All-American honors in 2010.
2009: Starks became an NCAA Championships point scorer for the second year in a row, placing 14th on platform (358.40). He was also 25th on 1-meter (291.10) ... Starks qualified for the NCAAs after taking second on platform at the NCAA Zone E Championships ... At the 2009 Pac-10 Championships, Starks was fifth on platform (314.40) and eighth on both 1-meter (289.10) and 3-meter (290.00).
2008: Starks was USC's only individual point scorer at the 2008 NCAA Championships as a freshman thanks to a 16th-place finish on platform (293.40). He was also 27th on 1-meter (265.00) at the NCAAs and 33rd on 3-meter (258.00) ... Starks qualified for the NCAAs with a second-place finish on platform (646.20 ) at the 2008 Zone E Championships ... He was a three-time finalist at the Pac-10 Championships, including a second-place mark on platform (346.10). He was also seventh on 3-meter (302.45) and eighth on 1-meter (290.60).
HIGH SCHOOL: Starks prepped at Mission Viejo (Calif.) High, where he was the 2006 Division I CIF champion and runner-up in 2007 ... Third at the 2007 Southern Section Masters, Starks won the 2007 USA Diving Region 9 Championships on both 1-meter and 3-meter springboard ... A 2004-05-06 NISCA All-American first teamer on 1-meter ... A multiple U.S. national competitor, he took third on tower at the 2006 England-U.S. Challenge and did the same at the China-Canada-U.S. Challenge in 2005.
