THIS SEASON: David Ringe is a 2003 senior who is solid in both fly events for the Trojans as well as in the back and the sprint free. He is looking to qualify for his second career NCAA meet.
2002: For the second consecutive season, Ringe, as a 2002 junior, reached the 2002 Pac-10 finals of the 200y fly, taking eighth (1:46.65). He was also 16th in the 100y fly (49.21) and 18th in the 100y back (50.65) … His 100y fly time of 1:46.64 in the prelims at the Pac-10s made him USC’s fourth fastest in the event last year … He was also the third fastest in the 100y back (50.65) … At the 2002 U.S. Nationals, he earned a second swim in the 200m fly, taking 24th (2:03.42). He also swam the 100m fly.
2001: Ringe competed for the first time at the NCAA Championships as a 2001 sophomore, taking 25th in the 200y fly (1:46.79) and 34th in the 100y fly (49.09). He also swam on USC’s ninth-place 200y medley relay … At the 2001 Pac-10s, Ringe made his second career conference final appearance when he took seventh in the 200y fly (1:46.39). He was also 10th in the 100y fly (48.51) and 17th in the 100y back (50.34) … At the 2001 U.S. Spring Nationals, Ringe was 12th in the 100m fly (55.47), 17th in the 200m fly (2:02.72) and 33rd in the 200m back (2:08.92) … He was a Pac-10 All-Academic second team selection.
2000: As a 2000 freshman, Ringe’s year was highlighted by a final appearance in the 100y fly at the 2000 Pac-10s ... He took eighth in 49.58 ... In fact, his prelim time in the event of 49.01 was the top time all year for the Trojans. Ringe also reached the consolation finals of the 200y back, taking 11th in (1:49.16) and he took 15th in the 100y back (51.60) ... Ringe competed in three events at the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials. He took 36th in the 200m fly (2:03.27), 47th in the 100m fly (56.08) and 54th in the 200m back (2:07.62).
HIGH SCHOOL: Ringe prepped at Exeter Union in Exeter, Calif. … He was a four-time CIF Central Section champion winning the 100y fly and 100y back his junior and senior years. He was also an eight-time Yosemite League champion. He also played water polo in high school ... He competed at both the 1999 U.S. Spring and Summer Junior Nationals, posting three finals appearances in the two meets.
PERSONAL: Ringe is a computer engineering major ... He was born on Sept. 20, 1981 ... He enjoys playing guitar.
