THIS SEASON: A 2003 junior transfer from Alabama, Jordie Proffitt comes to USC as a promising backstroker and medley swimmer who could lend immediate support in both events at the Pac-10s and NCAAs.
AT ALABAMA: Proffitt set the Alabama school record in the 200y back (1:47.11) as a sophomore in 2002 ... He finalled in the 100y back and the 200y IM at the SEC Championships ... As a 2001 freshman, he set the school record in the 100y back (47.97) ... He finished second in the 100y back and also finalled in the 200y IM.
HIGH SCHOOL: Proffitt prepped at Henderson (Ky.) High where he was a six-time prep All-American, a five-time Kentucky state champion and a four-time junior national runner-up.
PERSONAL: He was born on Nov. 11, 1981.
