THIS SEASON: A 2006 senior valuable in the freestyle and backstroke, Tyler Panos is in his second year as a co-captain as he works to return to the NCAA Championships for the second time as a Trojan.
2005: Panos swam in three freestyle events at the 2005 Pac-10 Championships as a junior, taking 12th in the 200y free (1:38.07), 15th in the 500y free (4:29.69) and 21st in the 100y free (45.75) ... Panos raced at the 2005 U.S. World Championships Trials, finishing 21st in the 400m free and 31st in the 200m free.
2004: As 2004 sophomore, Panos made his NCAA Championship debut, taking 37th in the 200m free (1:49.21). He also anchored USC's 11th-place 800m free relay ... At the 2004 Pac-10 Championships, Panos was 11th in the 200y and 500y free and 25th in the 100y free. He also swam on USC's third-place 800y free relay.
2003: Panos was a 2003 Pac-10 Championships finalist as a freshman, taking eighth in the 200y free in 1:38.23. He also finished 19th in the 100y free (45.41) and 30th in the 50y free (21.13) ... At the 2003 U.S. Spring Nationals, he was 44th in the 100m free (52.70) ... At the 2003 U.S. Summer Nationals, he was 55th in the 200m free (1:55.37).
HIGH SCHOOL: Panos prepped at West High in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he was a three-time 4A high school champion in the 100y free, 100y back and 100y fly.
PERSONAL: He was born on Oct. 12, 1983 ... He plans to major in business.
