THIS SEASON: Nick Karpov, is a 2012 junior from Canada, is among USC's top returning backstrokers who looks to make a return to his All-American level reached as a freshman and build on back-to-back NCAA appearances. He is USC's third-fastest ever in the 100y back and seventh in the 200y back.

2011: Karpov competed in three events at the 2011 NCAA Championships as a sophomore, finishing 23rd in the 100y back (47.38), 25th in the 200y back (1:43.99) and helped USC to 12th in the 200y medley relay ... At the 2011 Pac-10s, Karpov earned his second career finals appearance, taking eighth in the 200y back (1:44.44). He was also 11th in the 100y back (47.72) and 29th in the 50y free (20.92) ... He was tabbed a 2011 Pac-10 All-Academic team honorable mention pick.

2010: Karpov, who joined the Trojans as a freshman in the spring of 2010, swam on two relays at the 2010 NCAA Championships. He earned All-American honors by helping USC to a sixth-place finish in the 800y free relay. He also led off USC's 13th-place 200y medley relay ... At the 2010 Pac-10s, Karpov was a finalist in the 100y back, claiming seventh in 48.28. His 47.87 in prelims was USC's top time of the year. He was also 10th in the 200y back (1:44.23).

HIGH SCHOOL: Karpov graduated from Avondale Secondary in North York, Ontario ... At the 2009 Canadian Spring Nationals, he won bronze in the 100m back ... He is a seven-time medalist at the Canada Games (two golds, four silvers, one bronze).
