    THIS SEASON: Venezuelan sophomore Cristian Quintero, who joined the Trojans late in the 2012 spring semester en route to All-American honors as a freshman and followed it with an appearance at the 2012 Olympics, is one of the NCAA's top all-around freestylers who can challenge for post-season titles in just about any distance. With less than a year of short course training, he is already USC's fifth-fastest ever in the 200y, 500y and 1000y free and is fourth in the 1650y free (trailing only Olympians on each list).

    2012: Despite not joining the Trojans until late into his freshman season, Quintero had a big impact, earning a pair of All-American honors. Quintero just missed an NCAA title in the 500y free, finishing second in 4:13.07, 0.12 out of first. He earned his other All-American honor by anchoring Troy's fourth-place 400y free relay He won the consolation final of the 200y free (ninth overall) in 1:34.27 after finishing 10th in prelims, and was ninth in the timed final of the 1650y free (14:45.78), 2.05 seconds out of eighth (and another All-American honor) ... At the 2012 Pac-12 Championships, Quintero was a three-time top 5 finalist, taking second in both the 500y free (4:17.83) and the 1650y free (14:55.58). He was also fifth in the 200y free (1:36.15) ... He swam in three races for Venezuela at the 2012 Olympics, taking 16th in the 400m free, 22nd in the 200m free and 15th in the 400m free relay.

    VENEZUELA: Quintero is a Venezuelan national team member. At the 2011 Pan Am Games, he claimed bronze in the 400m free and in the 400m and 800m free relays. He also reached the finals of the 100m and 200m free ... He also competed at the 2011 World Championships, taking 23rd in the 400m free and 28th in the 200m free ... At the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics, he was a silver medalist in the 200y free ... He helped his country win gold at the 2010 South American Games in the 400m and 800m free relays.
