THIS SEASON: Richard Charlesworth, a 2008 Olympian and a British national team member since 2005, is a 2011 senior in his second season with the Trojans. After making his NCAA debut as a sophomore, Charlesworth is one of the top distance swimmers in the Pac-10 if not the NCAA and also bolsters the 800y free relay.
2010: Charlesworth raced in three events at the 2010 NCAA Championships as a junior, highlighted by a ninth-place finish in the 1650y free (14:54.51). He was also 16th in the 500y free (4:23.88) and 43rd in the 200y free (1:38.05) ... At the 2010 Pac-10s, he was third in the 1650y free (14:57.39) and 13th in both the 200y (1:38.07) and 500y free (4:19.41).
GREAT BRITAIN: Charlesworth was the 2008 British national champion in the 1500m free and represented England in the event at the 2008 Olympics ... He also competed for Great Britain at the 2009 World Championships, where he was 17th in the 800m free and 22nd in the 1500m free ... Charlesworth also swam at the 2005 and 2008 European Short Course Championships as well at the 2007 European Junior Open Water Championships (5K), where he finished first.
