THIS SEASON: A well-rounded swimmer who excels in distance events, 2013 sophomore Cary Wright, a 2011-2012 U.S. National Junior Team member, continues to improve and looks to be a big dual-meet and postseason factor for the Trojans this season.

2012: As a 2012 freshman, Wright was 14th in the 1650y free (15:42.01) and 15th in the 400y IM (3:54.82) at the 2012 Pac-12 Championships ... Wright earned 2012 College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Team honorable mention honors ... At the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, Wright had a solid outing, taking 27th in the 200m fly (2:00.94) and 30th in the 1500m free (15:41.00).

HIGH SCHOOL: Wright was a 14-time prep All-American at Clovis West High in Fresno, Calif., earning CIF Central Section Swimmer of the Year honors as a junior and a senior as well as Academic All-American honors his final three years in school ... He was tabbed Clovis West Swimming and Diving MVP as a junior and a senior ... He won CIF Central Section titles in the 500y free as a junior and a senior, claimed the 100y back as a senior and the 200y free as a junior ... He was sixth in the 5k at the 2011 National Open Water Championships and was ninth in the 5k in 2010. Also in 2011, he was 28th in the 10k ... At the 2011 U.S. Nationals, he was 28th in the 200m fly and 69th in the 1500m free ... At the 2011 junior nationals, he was seventh in the 200m fly. In 2010, he was sixth in the 200m fly and ninth in the 1500m free.

PERSONAL: Born Nov. 29, 1992. He plans to major in biological sciences ... He was the Clovis West High Salutatorian, a Scholar of Academic Distinction, an AP Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society.
